Rooftop Inspection Checklist
General Structure
- Check for any visible signs of sagging or uneven roof planes.
- Inspect the condition of fascia, soffit, and gutter systems.
- Ensure there are no signs of rot or damage to the roof decking.
Shingles or Roof Covering
- Look for missing, loose, or damaged shingles/tiles.
- Check for signs of algae growth, moss, or fungal decay.
- Inspect for blistering, curling, or buckling of shingles.
Flashing
- Verify that flashing is present at all necessary locations (valleys, eaves, rakes, walls, etc.).
- Inspect for rust, damage, or improper installation of flashing.
- Ensure that flashing is properly sealed and not allowing water penetration.
Chimneys and Vents
- Examine chimneys for cracks, deterioration, or missing mortar.
- Check the condition of vent pipes and ensure they are properly sealed.
- Inspect the chimney cap and the chimney crown for integrity.
Gutters and Downspouts

- Look for proper insulation and any signs of pest infestation.
Safety Measures

- Check for the presence of guardrails or safety harness anchor points.
